Casuals outgun Juniors

West Midlands Regional League Premier Division

Wolverhampton Casuals 3 Pegasus Juniors 0

As the season winds down to its' inevitable conclusion and the only thing at stake is pride, the expectation is for a meaningless game lacking any kind of effort. Not a bit of it from these two combatants;this could have been the first game of the season, such was the commitment shown from both sides.Such is the marked difference from the professional game. The balance was shifted in Casuals' favour in the first half when Juniors, who arrived with the bare bones of 11 players and no subs, were reduced to 10 men following an injury to their No9. It took a while to make any difference but as the second half wore on,the home side were clearly on top and should have scored on numerous occasions but for a fine display by Juniors 'keeper. It wasn't one-way traffic however, Juniors  having 3 decent  second-half chances which, unfortunately were all wasted.Indeed, this could have been quite a high-scoring game but for both keepers' displays. All in all, another pleasant Saturday afternoon.

What about the fella we got talking to prior to kick-off ? He'd come from Chesterfield(70 miles)for this game to add to the other 434 Non-League grounds he's already visited. Now that's a real ground-hopper !
